Tai Chi Chuan (Tai Chi)

Tai Chi Chuan (Tai Chi) is both a martial art and a meditative discipline that originated in China. Tai Chi differs from many other forms of exercise because it utilizes a holistic approach. It is excellent for strengthening the body and improving flexibility on many different levels. The movements are slow-paced and not strenuous. The practice of Tai Chi does not tax or deplete the body's energy level; rather it creates strength and increases one's vital life force. The movements give every part of the body-muscles, bones and joints-a chance to exercise. The breathing methods enhance deep relaxation throughout the entire body and mind.

Tai Chi improves the natural functions of the organs, increasing their vigor and strengthening them against disease. In addition to controlled motions and natural breathing, Tai Chi also promotes tranquility, stress reduction and improved concentration. Since all movements are performed in an integrated fashion, the practice of Tai Chi leads to the improved awareness of the different parts of the body, better functioning of the central nervous system and complete physical coordination.

Tai Chi Chuan will foster positive qualities such as calmness, perseverance, patience and determination. When practiced conscientiously, it will lead to both mental and physical wellbeing and improved health and longevity. Anyone can practice Tai Chi and reap the rewards of improved health and physical fitness-physically, mentally and spiritually.
