• 1970 Began study under Master Alan Lee’s Chinese Wushu Association of NYC;
• 1975 Enrolled in (Master Wily) Lin's Kung Fu School in Washington, DC and began Chin Na study; 
• 1978 Received his first Black belt degree;
• 1978 – 1989 Senior Instructor, Dennis Brown's Shaolin Wushu Kung Fu Academy;
• 1978 Admitted to the American Bar Association; Federal Bar Association, PA & DC Bar Associations; International trade and Immigration law specialist;
• 1982 Region 10’s, Number 1 Weapon Competitor of the Year;
• 1983 Selected to 2nd U.S. Delegation for Specialized Training in Chengdu, China;
• 1985 Resumed training in China  and attended Beijing University Law School;
• 1987 Trained with Beijing Wushu Team, Beijing, China
• 1987 Founded the Chinese Martial Arts Institute in Falls Church, Va and has been the Director and Senior Instructor since 1987
• 1988 Certified as a National Judge for NASKA and USAWKF;
• 1992 NASKA Virginia State Heavy Weight Sparring Champion;
• 1993 Selected to U. S. full contact Sanshou Team, World Championships in Malaysia;
• 1997 Led U.S. Delegation to train with Beijing Wu Shu Team, Beijing, China;
• 1999 Led U.S. Delegation to train with Beijing Wu Shu Team, Beijing, China;

• Master Burris has won numerous major competitions all over the United States.

• 1999 Certified by Professor Wally Jay and Professor and Professor Michael De Pasquale as a special instructor for the International Federation of Ju Jitsuans;
• 2002 Certified Air Marshall in the "American in Defense Program" under the World Blackbelt Organization;
• 2005 World Mudo Federation Hall of Fame “Kung Fu Master of the Year”
• 2005 Featured in Master Willy Lin’s Qin Na Films;
